Holders Real Madrid were shocked by Russian side CSKA Moscow on Tuesday in the Uefa Champions League.
The European champions trailed their hosts as early as the second minute when Nikola Vlasic took advantage of a terrible backpass from Germany international Toni Kroos to fire past Keylor Navas.
But Real came close to finding an equaliser with Karim Benzema, Casemiro and Mariano hitting the woodwork.
With four minutes into injury time, the home team had their goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
But they held on to move to the top of Group G ahead of Real, who dropped down to second.
