A 300 level law student has reportedly died after suspected herdsmen attacked a hostel at the University of Jos, Plateau State on Monday.
This was revealed by the Student Union Government (SUG) Fwangshak Pantu who also said three other persons are still being treated at a hospital.
“It was around 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday that some herdsmen tried to invade the Village Hostel, where male, female and some physically challenged students live,” he said.
“The students quickly mobilised towards the gates to prevent them from coming in.
He added that two hours after I called, the police or any other security agencies did not arrived at the scene, but the students managed to respond and push the herdsmen back.”
Pantu said the dead student, Shedrach Kums, was one of the students trying to beat back the attackers at the gate of Village Hostel when he was shot.
However, the state’s Police Commissioner Undie Adie has denied the attack.
