The results of the Adamawa Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election has emerged with a former acting governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri, becoming the opposition party’s flagbearer for 2019 in the state.
The returning officer and chairman of the state gubernatorial primary election, Adamu Shuaibu, said the former Adamawa Assembly Speaker scored 1,656 votes to defeat four other contestants.

Ahmadu Fintiri – 1,656 votes
Amb. Mohammed Jameel – 465 votes
Bala Ngilari – 78 votes
Aliyu Umar – 8 votes
Dr Umar Ardo – 1 vote.
Concise News learned that two other contestants Sa’ad Tahir and Adamu Modibbo withdrew from the election.
Addressing his supporters shortly after the announcement, Fintiri thanked the party’s stakeholders, especially Atiku Abubakar, Bamanga Tukur and Prof. Jibrin Aminu among others.
The former Adamawa Assembly Speaker also appreciated the effort of the delegates and promised to bring meaningful development into the state.
Fintiri called on the party’s members to support him to capture the Dougirei Government House, Yola, comes 2019.
