The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called off its seven-day warning strike aimed at pressing home its demand for the implementation of a new minimum wage.

President of the union Ayuba Wabba made this known on Sunday.

Wabba said the strike was called off due to the firm and formal assurance of the Federal Government to reconvene the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage.

Labour is demanding an increase of workers’ minimum wage from N18.000 to N56,000, a wage the federal and most state governments think is unrealistic.
