One of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos Femi Hamzat has withdrawn from the race.
Speaking to the press in Lagos on Saturday, Hamzat said he took the decision to support the ambition of another aspirant Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He, therefore, directed his supporters to cast their votes for Sanwo-Olu during the party’s primary on Sunday (tomorrow).
The press conference also had Sanwo-Olu in attendance.
Sanwo-Olu, an ex-commissioner in State, has been widely touted as Lagos APC bigwig’s preferred candidate to replace incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode.
However, in a twist of events on Friday, a leaked Whatsapp chat by Sanwo-Olu against APC’s victory in Osun State may hamper his chances at the direct primary billed to hold on Monday as sources say his comment did not go down well with national leader of the party Bola Tinubu and other party stalwarts.
