Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), on Saturday, elected Fela Durotoye as its presidential candidate ahead of the 2019 Presidential election.
Durotoye polled 240 votes to defeat Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim who got seven votes.
Reacting to his victory and emergence as his party’s flagbearer, Durotoye told journalists that ANN has a great message for Nigerians.
“A message for a new Nigeria. Nigerians are looking for new values that will produce a new Nigeria,” he said.
Speaking at the occasion, National Chairman of the party, Emmanuel Dania, said the party was poised to achieve great things for the country.
He said, “Our DNA is about making a difference. We are here to speak for Nigerians, ensure they get what they deserve.
“We want to see that the common man has the right to be happy. It is important Nigerians know new kind of politics.”
Speaking on the withdrawal of Olawepo-Hashim from the race, Dania said the party find it unfortunate that he (Olawepo-Hashim) pulled out of the race, adding that the party will reach out to all aggrieved members.
Earlier, Olawepo-Hashim had withdrawn from the election at the Nicon Luxury, Abuja, saying that the guidelines for the National Convention of the party were not ratified by the National Executive Committee of the party before the convention could hold.
