The Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (EKEDC) has said it would give out 85,000 new prepaid meters to tackle the metering gap in the business area.
The company revealed this on Friday in a statement in Lagos where it added that it is part of its commitment to meeting its customers’ yearning.
According to the company, the prepaid meters would be distributed in Ikeja, Abule-Egba, Akowonjo, Oshodi, Ikorodu, and Shomolu.
It noted that “while abiding by the regulator’s guideline which states that all customers have a right to a properly installed and functional meter, and un-metered customer should be issued with electricity bills strictly based on NERC’s estimated billing methodology, it is also poised to reduce estimated billing with the deployment of prepaid meters.”
The DisCo added that it will “roll-out 85,000 meters to cover residential customers across its six Business Units,” in the first batch of the metering drive.
