UN Unveils Nelson Mandela Statue In New York

A statue of the anti-apartheid South African hero Nelson Mandela has been unveiled at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York.

Deputy Secretary-General of the UN Amina Mohammed shared photos from the unveiling on her Twitter page.

According to her, the statue was unveiled during the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

She wrote; “A statue of a truly global & #african hero #NelsonMandela unveiled at the @UN. His legacy of fighting for peace, justice & prosperity lives on.
