Arsenal has reportedly identified Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega as their top target to replace midfielder, Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey’s future at Emirates remains uncertain with the Wales international currently in the final year of his contract at the club, and yet to sign an extension.
However, The Mirror UK reports that Arsenal was planning to return for Banega in January transfer window and was willing to trigger his £18million release clause in order to secure his services.
The report claimed that the Argentina international would be available on a free transfer next summer, but Arsenal was willing to beat any other club that will be interested in the 30-year-old by signing him in January.
Banega previously worked with Arsenal manager, Unai Emery during his time at Sevilla.
