The Adamawa State faction of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has joined the Alliance for a New Nigeria (ANN).
The aggrieved members of the SDP, including a governorship candidate under the party’s platform, Abel Behora, were led by their chairman, Ibrahim Bebeto.
The left the party over alleged infiltration and hijack of the party by Emmanuel Bello, a governorship aspirant under the SDP in Adamawa State.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Bebeto said the mass exodus of members was as a result of the alleged brazen abuse and violation of the party’s constitution by undesirable elements that have infiltrated the party.
The members said they had no option but to leave the SDP for another party after it learnt there were plans to frustrate their participation in the 2019 election.
