Nigerians have expressed sadness over the suspension of the Nigeria Air project by the Federal Government on Wednesday.
Minister of State for Petroleum Hadi Sirika had announced the decision but did not give reasons for the move by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
This came two months after the name ad the logo of the national carrier was launched and expected to take off by December.
But many Nigerians who took to social media site Twitter berated the Buhari government for ”wasting taxpayers money” on the project.
Some of them accused the Buhari administration of failing Nigeria and lashing out at those who expressed optimism about the project when it was launched.
Concise News captured some of the comments below:
There is no difference between Nigeria Air and MMM.

N1.5bn of taxpayers money wasted on a poorly planned Nigeria Air now suspended.
Our administration will properly plan and execute any project we undertake so as to stop wastage of scarce resources.

Populist will always want you sounding like you are not a Patriot for exposing their fraud. No one says Nigeria Air won’t succeed. It just won’t be under false pretenses and fraudulent antics. It will happen under a sincere and genuine administration not pathological liars. https://t.co/kzEH6yfq79

Nigeria Air is just one small (tiny) but highly visible example of how the government wastes money with the Nigerian elite cheering them on.
Poor Nigerians have no say in all this.

Some folks will go and start deleting their tweets posted in July about Nigeria Air. All the shades, all the insults, now the thing has been suspended. Billions of Naira down the drain.

After giving out $600000 to a company in Bahrain to design Nigeria Air logo
After spending huge amount of taxpayers' money on an expensive trip to UK to launch Nigeria Air logo
The entire charade has now been suspended indefinitely
Buhari is the greatest fraud of this age

I don't know why Nigerians think Positive Thinking is synonymous with mindlessness.
That's how one Yahooboy came with TSTV and said you would pay N1k for all European football and you were arguing and saying we should be positive. You then did the same thing with Nigeria Air

I hope the APC rent chaps on this app will find the humility to apologise to Mrs @obyezeks for all the insult they rained on her when that white elephant project called Air Nigeria or Nigeria Air was announced. 1.5 billion down the drain.

The most intellectually fraudulent thing even done here was the nonsense about how being positive about Nigeria Air meant some form of patriotism &that those that condemned the idea were bad peopl. The bad guys are those who did threads based on a manifestly foolish idea.

People actually think we are rejoicing that Nigeria Air failed because we want Nigeria to fail? Let’s be serious please.
The grouse is that Nigeria does not have the capacity to run any kind of business. We need to focus instead on making our economy more business friendly.

I was going to say it’s wrong to compare Nigeria Air with MMM because MMM actually paid some people, then it dawned on me that Nigeria Air also paid some people. Wow. pic.twitter.com/qFV13fkwjp

Oby Ezekwesili said "Nigeria Air shall fail" and it has FAILED. Madam Oby, please predict Buhari's failure in 2019. For the sake of Nigerians
