Aminu Maigari, one of the candidates vying for the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Thursday’s election, has arrived the venue of the exercise in Katsina.
Maigari, a former president of the NFF, was seen arriving with another contestant for the position of Chairman of Chairmen, Ifeanyi Uba, the owner of NPFL club FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
The presence of Maigari at the venue might have settled the uncertainty in his participation in the election following a provisional clearance handed to him by the NFF Electoral Committee on Wednesday.
The electoral committee headed by Muhammed Katu said in a statement that they received petitions from Chuma Onye (on September 14) and Ahmed Shuaibu (on September 17) claiming that Maigari submitted forged certificates during the screening of candidates for the election.
Maigari, if cleared to contest, will face incumbent president, Amaju Pinnick, who is seeking, with former Secretary-General of the body Taiwo Ogunjobi and Chinedu Okoye the other contestants bidding to lead Nigerian football.
