At least 35 communities in Etsako East and Etsako Central areas of Edo state have been sacked by flood, resulting from downpour and overflow of River Niger.

The flood, it was learned, displaced more than 30,000 people and damaged hundreds of hectares of farmland across the two council areas.

According to reports, mostly affected by the flood are communities such as Udaba, Anegbette, Usomegbe, Uduchiz all in Etsako Central.

In a similar vein, the flood also sacked the entire six Uneme clans in South East Uneme, Okpekpe, among others, in Etsako East.

The Etsako East council boss, Aremiyau Momoh, and his counterpart in Etsako Central, John Akhigbe, said the disaster had gone beyond the purview of the council areas.

To this end, they called for urgent intervention from both the State and the Federal Governments.
