A former governor of Kano State Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has obtained a nomination form to contest for a senatorial ticket on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a media aide to the incumbent Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, confirmed this on Tuesday.
Yakasai posted an image of Shekarau posing with the forms on his Twitter page and wrote: “H.E Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau former Governor of Kano State has picked up the Senate Nomination Form for Kano Central Zone under the APC today.
“He will be replacing the former Gov of Kano and soon to be one term Senator, Kwankwaso, in the forthcoming 2019 elections. Aiki dai.”
Concise News recalls that Shekarau joined the ruling party last Saturday, a day after Adams Oshiomhole, chairman of the APC and Ganduje met with him at his residence.
The former Kano governor told his supporters that he left the opposition party because they gave Kwankwaso an edge over Kano PDP leaders after he defected.
