Seven people have been injured in France after a man swinging his straying knife attacked them.
Three among the injured persons are tourists, AFP reports.
It was gathered that bystanders attempted to stop the attack by throwing petanque balls at the assailant who did not pay any attention to them.
Police said four out of the victims were in critical conditions and the man, believed to be an Afghan national, went on the rampage on Sunday near a canal in the northeast of the capital.
Those in critical conditions included two British tourists, an Egyptian tourist and a local man, police added.
Police explained further that the suspect was overpowered by bystanders and was unconscious at the time of their arrival.
A source told newsmen that despite the fact that he targeted the foreigners, “nothing at this stage suggests a terrorist attack.”
