England defender Harry Maguire has extended his stay at Leicester City by signing a new five-year contract with the 2016 Premier League champions.
“They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot. I owe them a lot and I’m looking forward to the future,” Maguire said on Leicester’s official website on Sunday.
The 25-year-old was reportedly a subject of interest from Manchester United during the recent transfer window.
Maguire, who helped his country, England, reach the World Cup semi-finals this year in Russia, played every minute of Leicester’s Premier League campaign last season.
He joined the Foxes from Hull in 2017.
