Germany gaffer Joachim Low has said Mesut Ozil “disappointed” him when he retired from the team due to alleged racial bias by the German football body.
Ozil retired after the Germans disgracefully exited the 2018 World Cup at the group stage.
And Low has revealed the Arsenal man did not inform him before taking the decision despite their closeness.
“I expected him to call me, that he would call me personally and tell me,” Low told ZDF after a barren draw with France in the Nations League on Thursday.
“So that’s why I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed with him on human terms. We’ve been together for many years.”
