The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated its call on the National Assembly to reconvene, without further delay.
The APC believes that the 2019 general election could be hindered as the federal lawmakers have yet to pass the budget for the exercise.
The lawmakers have been on vacation since 24 July, 2018, with plenary scheduled to resume on 26 September, four months to the 2019 elections.
Spokesman for the APC, Yekini Nabena, asked the legislature to urgently consider the crucial budget of the INEC for the elections.
The APC said the sanctity of the nation’s electoral system was being threatened by an alleged plot to frustrate the efforts of the Executive, particularly INEC in the run-up to next year’s polls.
The APC asked Nigerians to speak up and ensure that the National Assembly performs its duties in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
