Senator Ben Murray-Bruce (PDP-Bayelsa East) has slammed the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for allegedly not addressing “extreme poverty” affecting Nigerians.
The media mogul, in a post on Twitter, accused the federal government of placing the impeachment of Senate President Bukola Saraki as its major priority.
He also stated that Nigeria is experiencing extreme poverty because the country lacks quality leaders.
In series of post on his Twitter page on Wednesday, Murray Bruce wrote: “Recently Nigeria overtook India as the world headquarters of EXTREME POVERTY. Till date the Buhari admin has not addressed this issue. How callous can a government be that in the midst of an EXTREME POVERTY epidemic, it’s priority is fighting Bukola Saraki. Will that end poverty?
“What President Muhammadu Buhari fails to understand is that being in office is not the same as being in power. A leader does not become a leader because of his title. If he relies on his title, he is only in office. For a leader to be in POWER, he must use his power to EMPOWER his people.
“The extreme poverty in Nigeria is not caused by the fall of crude oil prices. That is a myth. The reason we overtook India as the world headquarters for extreme poverty is because we suffer from poverty of leadership. When leaders think poorly, their people will see poverty!”
