Former Presidential New Media aide Reno Omokri has called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the police.
Osinbajo, had in a statement on Tuesday, ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to immediately overhaul the unit.
However, on Tuesday evening, reports emerge of the arrest of a Premium Times reporter, Samuel Ogundipe, by operatives of SARS.
Reacting in a post on his Twitter page, Reno Omokri wrote: “Dear Prof Osinbajo, On the same day you ordered the police to overhaul SARS, SARS still arrested Samuel Ogundipe, a PremiumTimes journalist because of a story.
“Please consider this as evidence that SARS needs to be scrapped and not overhauled. #EndSARS”
