Senator Biodun Olujimi has been nominated as the new Senate Minority Leader by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senate Caucus.
Olujimi, who is the Deputy Minority Whip, is to replace Senator Godswill Akpabio, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on 8 August, 2018.
A source told Vanguard, on Monday, that Senator Olujimi’s name would be made known when the Senate reconvenes from its annual recess.
It was learned that Senator Emmanuel Paulker will succeed Olujimi as the Senate Deputy Minority Whip.
The source said further that Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, and Senate Minority Whip, Senator Philip Aduda, would retain their positions because they are both from the north.
According to the source, the PDP caucus opted for Olujimi in order to have a vibrant member from the South-West and to recognise the contributions of many active female senators.
