The PDP on Sunday said it uncovered a fresh plot by the APC and the cabal in the Presidency to use security agencies and the EFCC to invite, arrest and detain the Senate leadership. The main opposition party also disclosed that the persistent request by the presidency and the leadership of the APC for the legislature to reconvene and consider the INEC budget was a ploy to impeach the two principal officers.

Tambuwal Stuns PDP, Defects To APC With 10,000 Supporters

Former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto state Abubakar Shehu-Tambuwal has led about 10,000 faithful to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal area of the state. Shehu-Tambuwal said on Sunday that they made the decision freely based on their concern to take part in politics that would improve the state.

APC Caucus Accuses Saraki Of Withholding PDP Defectors’ Letters

Senators elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, of withholding defection letters from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to the APC caucus, Saraki refused to read the letters from those who defected from the major opposition PDP to the APC. Saraki has however denied the allegation, as he challenged the senators to publish their letters.

EFCC Berates Buhari’s Aide For Linking It To Saraki

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has slammed the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, for accusing it of colluding with Senate President Bukola Saraki to undermine President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari’s aide had accused the senate president of plotting the blockade of the National Assembly by the DSS as well as the freezing of the accounts belonging to the governments of Benue and Akwa Ibom.

APC Defeats PDP In Bauchi Senatorial Bye-election

The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Lawal Gumau, has emerged winner of the Bauchi South senatorial bye-election held on Saturday.According to the Returning Officer of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ahmed Fadam, Gumau won in six of the seven local government areas in the district. The APC candidate polled 119,489 votes to beat his closest rival, Peoples Democratic Party’s Ladan Salihu, who polled 50,256 votes.

Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri on Sunday won the International Table Tennis Federation Challenge Nigeria Open at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. Quadri, by virtue of this feat, becomes the first Nigerian player to win the tournament. He defeated Antoine Henchard 4-2 in the final of the men’s single in front of a capacity crowd at the stadium.
