Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a peaceful senatorial bye-election in Bauchi state on Saturday.
According to Dogara, the peaceful election was an indication that INEC was capable of conducting the 2019 election.
Dogara, while speaking with newsmen in his village, Gwarangah in Bauchi state, said, “I am impressed by the arrangement put in place by INEC because as at now, there is no news of violence or irregularities throughout the bye-election in almost all the seven LGAs in the state,” said Dogara.
He admitted that initially, there was poor turn out of voters, attributing same to the farming season. He, however, expressed satisfaction with the voting pattern.
