Cameroon has appointed Clarence Seedorf as head coach of its national team, taking over from Belgian Hugo Broos.

The Dutchman, 42, will be assisted by compatriot Patrick Kluivert, Cameroonian Minister of Sport Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mkpatt said on Saturday.

The four-time champions League winner has got coaching stints with Milan, Chinese side Shenzhen and Deportivo La Coruna but has had little success.

He made 87 international appearances for the Orange Gang. 

Cameroon will host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations next June after winning its fifth title in Gabon in 2017.
