The Presidency has described the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, as a ”high-powered nothing” following the defeat of his party in Saturday’s governorship election in the state. Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated the deputy governor of the state and candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Professor Kolapo Olusola, and 33 others to emerge winner of the poll. Buhari’s top media aide Garba Shehu said in a statement titled “Fayose: In The End, A High-Powered Nothing,” that the people of Ekiti, with the result, had spoken against Fayose.

The President of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, Adetola Olubola, has revealed that unknown assailants have killed another Nigerian Martin Ebuzoeme in the country. Olubola stated that the victim was killed in Yeoville, Johannesburg, around 7:30pm on 12 July. The killing came barely 24 hours after the visit of South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, to Nigeria. Ramaphosa had during his visit on July 11 said that the killing of Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country was an act of criminality, not specifically targeted at Nigerians.
PDP Candidate Olusola Rejects Ekiti Guber Result
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Professor Kolapo Olusola, has rejected the result of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Kayode Fayemi as the winner of the poll. Olusola said: “PDP and I won the election overwhelmingly, receiving more than 70 per cent of lawful votes cast and winning in almost all of the State’s 16 local government areas.

Rights group SERAP has asked the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to clear the air over the allegations of certification forgery leveled against her. President Muhammadu Buhari arrived The Hague on Sunday evening ahead of his slated appearance at the International Criminal Court. Buhari was invited to deliver the keynote address at the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the ICC Rome Statute. The presidential aircraft that conveyed him from Abuja arrived Rotterdam-The Hague Airport at about 7.23 pm Nigerian time.
