Nigerian singer and songwriter Okoro Uwale popularly known as ‘Essence’ shared new photos to celebrate her 40th birthday.

Essence started her singing career at a very tender age, but went professional at age 18.

The Delta State-born singer graduated from Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, where she studied Theatre Arts.

After her secondary school education, Essence joined her Church choir and she was also a back up to artistes such as Kingsley Ike, Paul Play Dairo, Kenny St Brown and others.

Upon graduation in 2004, she was signed to Kennis Music and released her debut album titled ‘Truly Essence’, which has hit songs such as ‘Like Dat’ and ‘African Prince’, a remix of Tuface’s ‘African Queen’.
