UK-based Nigerian nurse Josephine Iyamu has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after she pleaded guilty for trafficking five Nigerian girls to Germany.
Iyamu made her victims swear oaths to give her whatever they earn, made them drink blood with worms, eat chicken hearts and put powder into body cuts, according to BBC,
Concise News gathered from The Cable that the sentenced Nurse was, prior to her imprisonment, campaigning to be a member in the Edo state house of assembly under the All Progressives Congress Party (APC).
Judge Richard Bond said during the sentencing that Iyanmu showed no regard “for the welfare of these women”.
He explained that the nurse made them vulnerable to “real and significant” risk of death, by making them travel on inflatable boats across the Mediterranean.
“You saw them not as living, breathing human beings but as commodities to earn you large sums of money,” Bond said.
