Nigeria's agency in charge of trafficking, NAPTIP have called on the United Nations to probe the death of 26 Nigerians in the Mediterranean sea.
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) says over 10, 000 Nigerians died in the Mediterranean sea between January and May, 2017.

Spanish authorities have rescued 933 migrants and found four dead bodies in the Mediterranean on Friday and Saturday.

This comes as the country prepares for the arrival of a charity rescue ship that was denied port by Italy and Malta.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has already made migrant-friendly moves in his first two weeks in the job.

He recently offered to take in the rescue ship Aquarius with 629 people on board.

But Sanchez pledged free healthcare to undocumented migrants.

The country’s coast guard said on Twitter it had rescued 507 people from 59 small dinghies in the Gibraltar strait, where it also found the four bodies.

The EU border agency noted that all the other rescues happened in the Alboran Sea, between northeastern Morocco and southeastern Spain.
