Nigeria defender Leon Balogun is likely to miss the team’s opening 2018 World Cup tie with Croatia on Saturday following an injury.
Concise News understands that Balogun did not train with his teammates in their last session on Thursday before they left for Kaliningrad, where they would play against Croatia.
The centre-back, who recently signed for Premier League club Brighton, will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury as well as his availability for the game.
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr will likely draft in Kenneth Omeruo as replacement in case Balogun is ruled out of the game.
Balogun struggled for fitness during the latter part of the Bundesliga season with Mainz due to injury.
