Legal icon Femi Falana has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo could be arrested if there are legal grounds to do so.
Obasanjo had alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was planning to arrest and disgrace him.
However, speaking on Sunday on Channels TV, Falana said that Buhari could arrest Obasanjo if he was found wanting with regard to financial matters.
He said Obasanjo could be questioned but warned that he would ensure Obasanjo’s human rights were not violated, calling on him not to panic.
On declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day, the human rights activist commended Buhari and said it was long due.
He dismissed insinuations that the move was aimed at swaying South West votes in Buhari’s favour, describing Moshood Abiola’s June 12, 1993 Presidential election victory as victory for Nigerians.
In addition, he said several Nigerians voted Abiola during the election and sacrificed their lives during and after the poll.
