Argentina midfielder Manuel Lanzini has been ruled out of this year’s Fifa World Cup in Russia after suffering a knee in training on Friday.
Lanzini’s injury comes just seven days to the start of the biggest football event in the world.
The two-time world champions have Nigeria, Croatia and Iceland to contend with in Group D of the competition.
“Manuel Lanzini suffered, in today’s morning training, the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee,” the South Americans announced on Twitter.
Argentina will play Iceland on 16 June, Croatia on 21 June and Nigeria on 26 June.
Argentina have been training in Barcelona for the tournament.
