Hon Adams Jagaba (PDP-Kachia/Kagarko) has disclosed that majority of Nigerian lawmakers are ready to begin impeachment process against President Muhammadu Buhari.
In an interview with BBC Hausa radio service on Wednesday, he said Buhari will be removed if he failed to quickly address the 12-point resolutions passed against him.
Jagaba said: “We will willingly do so in the interest of democracy and the country as a whole. We will also meet with the United Nations, European Union and African Parliament in order to help us restore democracy which is currently suffering a setback in the country.
“Therefore, we will not hesitate to impeach him because he is not God.”
The lawmaker said the anti-corruption crusade of the present administration is full of talks without action.
He also alleged that the President has surrounded himself with corrupt people who are accused of one corruption charges or another.
“They are busy diverting public funds into their personal coffers. If he is serious in the fight against corruption, he should be all out to prosecute anybody regardless of political affiliations,” he advised.
