The Super Eagles will raise their game against Czech Republic in Wednesday’s tune-up for the 2018 Fifa World Cup, captain of the side John Mikel Obi has said.
Many football faithful in Nigeria have expressed doubt with regard to the team’s chances of stunning the world in Russia, following their below par display in a friendly with England on Saturday in London.
The Eagles lost 2-1 to the English in a game of two halves, with Nigeria recovering from a lacklustre showing in the first-half to pull one back.
The team will face Czech at the Rudolf-Tonn-Stadion, Vienna, Austria.
“The game against England was a good test for us, we played well in the second half. In the first half, we didn’t get going but after the break, we started playing,” Mikel said in video posted by the Nigeria Football Federation on their Twitter handle.
“We scored a goal and created more chances.
“Hopefully tomorrow [today] we can start well and get a good result. I urge all Nigerians to keep supporting us.”
