World number one Simona Halep battled from one set down to overcome Angelique Kerber 6-7 (2-7) 6-3 6-2 and book a place in the last four of the French Open.
Halep, a two-time finalist, is on course for her first Roland Garros triumph by beating the German.
The 28-year-old will next play 2016 champion Garbine Muguruza in the semis on Thursday.
The Spaniard reached the semi-finals after beating Russia’s Maria Sharapova 6-2 6-1 on Wednesday.
In the other semi-final game, Sloane Stephens will confront Madison Keys in a repeat of the 2017 US Open final.
