England-based Alex Iwobi scored a brilliant goal but it was not enough to prevent Nigeria from losing 2-1 to England in a friendly played on Saturday at the Wembley Stadium.

It was a game of two halves, with England dominating the first and Nigeria making the English struggle in the second.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill headed Gareth Southgate’s men in front in the 7th minute, before Tottenham’s prolific striker Harry Kane made it 2-0 in the 39th minute.

But the Nigerians responded from the start of the second-half.

Iwobi gave the Eagles and thousands of fans inside Wembley hope two minutes after the break with a crisp finish.

However, the Three Lions contained the Nigerians to seal the win.

Nigeria’s next tune-up for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia is with Czech Republic on 6 June, 2018.
