Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has signed a two-year deal with Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion on a free transfer.
Balogun, 29, featured for German side Mainz 15 times this past season as the club avoided the drop from the German Bundesliga.
“I am delighted to welcome Leon to the club. He will add more depth to our defensive options, and I am pleased to get our first piece of business done so early in the summer,” Brighton manager Hughton said.
“He is in the peak years of his career and I am sure he will integrate well into the squad. “He also has valuable experience, having played in the Bundesliga, the Europa League and at international level.”
Concise News gathered that Hughton is keen on beefing up his team after they survived their first season in the EPL with Balogun signed as perfect fit.
The Nigerian’s versatility in the defence line makes him all the more a good bargain for the English club.
He is expected to add cover to the club as they had seen Uwe Hunemeier leave for SC Paderborn earlier this off season.
