Crisis looms in the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kogi state as a group loyal to former deputy governorship candidate in the state Abiodun Faleke has asked its members to boycott the party’s congresses.
Faleke ran with Abubakar Audu, who died shortly after the election in 2015.
Spokesman for the group Duro Meseko made this known after Governor Yahaya Bello was alleged of hijacking the party’s machinery.
“We learnt on good authority that very harmful weapons would be deployed at the various venues to keep us away from participating, so it is better for us not to put ourselves in danger,” said in a statement.
He complained that the Audu, Faleke group had been sidelined in the party’s affairs, saying in spite of the group’s cooperation with the Tony Momoh-led reconciliation committee.
“The governor frustrated the whole process, and the outcome of the panel did not see the light of the day,” he added.
