The Action Democratic Party (ADP) on Thursday denied claims it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The party said reports suggesting such an alliance are fake and “sponsored”. They wondered why SDP chieftains, including Chief Olu Falae, would “descend so low”.
They opined that the false report was made in order to hamstring the ADP as it gears up for the forthcoming elections.
This is contained in a statement released by the ADP director of media, Kayode Jacob in Abuja.
“We, however, want to believe that an overzealous SDP official would have been responsible as we want to hold that the highly-respected leadership of SDP will not want to cut corners to attain popularity.
“However, if any individual or group of persons had succeeded in deceiving and defrauding the SDP that it is representing ADP and signing MoU on its behalf, too bad and unfortunate,” the statement read in part.
It stressed that ADP has made no political alignment and is working on becoming a viable option for Nigerians as they prepare to go to the polls.
“The party is strong enough to provide the canopy needed by all well-meaning Nigerians who desire a new nation where promises are kept and destinies are fulfilled.
“The ADP remains strong in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT; we are fully set to contest the 2019 elections,” the statement added.
