Seye Ogunlewe has appealed to President Mohammadu Buhari to invest more in sport to enable Team Nigeria ”do greater things” at international competitions.

The Nigerian sprinter made this known after narrowly finishing fourth in the men’s final of the 100m at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

He was responding to the President’s congratulatory message on Monday.

“All of Nigeria is behind you, as you fly the Nigerian flag on Monday,” Buhari had tweeted.

Ogunlewe then said he wished he had the chance to meet with Buhari to tell him how Team Nigeria were poorly funded prior to the Games.

“Thank you your Excellency! Invest more in us so we can do greater things. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ogunlewe replied.
