A late goal by Lorenzo Insigne denied England a second successive friendly victory as the Italians drew England 1-1 at Wembley.
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy had given the Three Lion the lead in the 26th minute, firing a shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Italian goal.
The Azzurri fought back and were unlucky not to have caught out England as the home team made repeated mistakes at the back.
The home team looked like they were going to see the game out till a late intervention by the video assistant referee (VAR).
The referee, Deniz Aytekin, consulted VAR after Burnley defender James Tarkowski tangled with Federico Chiesa. After due consultation, he awarded Italy a penalty after adjudging Tarkowski to have stepped on Chiesa’s foot.
With three minutes to go, Insigne beat Jack Butland.
