Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has dispelled reports he was fired by Sudanese Club Al Khartoum Watani.
Some media outlets had reported on Wednesday that the former Golden Eaglets coach had been sacked by the Sudanese side after just four months at the club.
But Amunike said he resigned after the club told him to take a pay cut.
He had replaced Kwesi Appiah who left to take over the reins as Ghana’s head coach in November 2017.
“I wasn’t sacked,” Amunike said on Wednesday.
”The Owner of the club called us to a meeting to explain why we have not been paid and he suggested that we take a pay cut as their major sponsors have not been backing the club with funds.”
