A magistrate court in Kaduna has sentenced a 40-year-old man to two years behind bars for sodomy.
The man, identified as Ibrahim Lawal of Ungwan Fulani, was convicted on a one-count charge of gross indecency.
He was, however, given the option of paying a fine of N20,000 instead.
Lawal was arraigned on January 12, 2017 after his arrest following a report filed at the Hunkuyi Police Station by a Sunusi Idris, the convict’s neighbour.
Lawal was found guilty by the chief magistrate, Mrs Zainab Mohammed, after the prosecutor, Sunday Baba, with the help of five witnesses, proved beyond reasonable doubt that he (Lawal) lured the complainant’s 17-year-old son into his room and sodomised him.
