Former Nigeria international Austine Okocha has commended organisers of the Lagos City Marathon, describing the event as “massive” for sports in the country.
The former Bolton Wanderers captain said this on the sidelines of the competition which held on Saturday.
According to him, such event would project the country in good light.
“This is big and massive as far as sports development is concerned and I must commend the sponsors for their consistency,” the former Paris Saint Germain star noted.
“I am here to support the event as well enjoy myself.”
Over 100,000 participants ran the 42km race with Kenyan, Abraham Kiprotich and Ethiopian Herpha Guta winning the male and female categories respectively.
