Arsenal may not feature their record signing, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in this weekend’s Premier League game against Everton because the striker is ill.
The Gabon international, who joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in a £56 million switch on Wednesday, missed training on Friday.
“Aubameyang was sick, so we will assess him,” Wenger said on Friday.
It is the hope of Wenger and the club’s faithful that the former African Footballer of Year partners effectively with former Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian joined from Manchester United last month as part of the deal that took Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford.
Wenger, while speaking on the deal, said, “It was difficult because of course Dortmund needed a replacement.
“It was a cryptic deal because Giroud went to Chelsea and Batshuayi went to Dortmund. That is why it was short in time and tense until the end.”
