Super Falcons new head coach Thomas Dennerby has arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday morning ahead of his formal unveiling.
It was gathered that he arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja early morning.
The 58-year-old Swede, who led his country, Sweden, to a third-place finish at the 2011 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Germany, was announced as coach of the Falcons last week.
And according to the Nigeria Football Federation, they decided to go for “Thomas Dennerby for three reasons: to sustain and enhance the Super Falcons’ dominance on the African scene; to take the Falcons and the other women teams to the next level of challenging for laurels at global competitions like the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.”
He replaces Florence Omagbemi who led the team to an African Women’s Championship title in 2016 in Cameroon.
The contract will last until the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
