Senator Ben Murray-Bruce (PDP-Bayelsa East) says the arrest of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was not unconnected to the letter by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Obasanjo had on Tuesday wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari asking him not to contest the 2019 general election because his (Buhari) has failed Nigerians.
In a post on his Twitter handle, Murray-Bruce mocked the current Federal Government over the timing of Lawal’s arrest.
He said other former Presidents should write letters so that “all of a sudden we will deal with herdsmen killings and other issues.”
Murray-Bruce wrote: “All of a sudden they announce that the committee on restructuring will submit its report tomorrow. All of a sudden Babachir Lawal is detained.
“Maybe other former Presidents should also write letters. Then may be all of a sudden we will deal with herdsmen killings and other issues.”
