A Federal High Court in Kaduna state has adjourned the hearing of a suit by ex-pension reform task team boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, seeking to quash the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) act of 2004.
Maina had last year filed a suit at the court asking it to declare as null and void, the EFCC Act of 2004 on the grounds that the Act did not follow proper legislative processes before becoming a law.
However, at the resumed hearing of the case on Monday, counsel to the EFCC told the court that they were not served with the originating process, and however requested for a new date to enable him adopt all the processes and written addresses.
Earlier, counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, Tijjani Kazali said he wondered why Maina, who had related with the EFCC and exchanged correspondences on several occasions, will suddenly say the commission is an illegality.
But after listening to all the parties involved in the matter, the presiding judge, Justice Saleh Shuaibu, adjourned the case to February 8, 2018, for hearing.
