Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has set January 24 to rule on the issues concerning the conduct if the local government election in Osun State scheduled to hold on 27th of this January.

The poll became a subject of litigation when some aggrieved individuals instituted a case against the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission and the state government to stop the process because of the the parliamentary system at local government level introduced by the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

The High Court granted the request of the plaintiffs and ordered the OSSIEC to stop the process but the state government also urged the court to vacate the order and allow the local government polls to hold as scheduled.

There were argument and counter argument between the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State, Dr. Ajibola Basiru and the counsel to the plaintiffs, Chief Robert Clarke, (SAN).

Justice J.T Tsoho adjourned the matter to 24th day of January, 2018 for ruling.
