The online confrontation between Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce (PDP-Bayelsa East) continued on Saturday.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday commissioned 10 new coaches and two locomotives for the Abuja-Kaduna route.
The commissioning of the project drew a response from the lawmaker, which resulted in a social media ‘war’ between the two politicians.
Murray-Bruce had said Buhari should have commended ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for “the train ride he enjoyed in Kaduna,” stating that it was initiated by the former president.
Responding, El-Rufai described Bruce as a liar for saying the project was initiated by Jonathan, adding that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo started the project which was later abandoned by President Musa Yar’adua and Jonathan.
Again, Bruce had told el-Rufai, that his (El-Rufai’s) hatred for the late Ya’Adua has clouded his judgment on who initiated the Abuja-Kaduna railway.
El-Rufai while reacting to Bruce comment noted that the lawmaker was organising beauty pageants when the disputed rail projects were being conceived.
Responding, Murray-Bruce wrote on Twitter: “Dear Gov, no need for insults. Construction on Abuja-Kaduna rail began on February 2011 and ended on December 2014. Jonathan built it.
“These are facts. Yes, I held beauty pageants and produced the first Black Miss World which you and I should be proud of.”
