From divorces to break-ups and even families splitting, 2017 will be remembered as the year that some of the messiest celebrity feuds occurred in Nigeria entertainment industry.
Fans had their fill as almost every week brought on a new feud or a fresh twist to an ongoing one.
From the P-square feud to Davido-Wizkid and the Tonto Dike saga, it really was an eventful 2017 and below is a recap.
Tonto Dikeh vs Olakunle Churchill
We start off with the disintegration of the marriage of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh and her “millionaire” husband Olakunle Churchill.
After celebrating the birth of their son, King, many believed the controversial actress was living her best life with pictures of her and her hubby popping up regularly on her social media feeds.
However, time showed these all to be smokescreens as the union slowly and messily broke apart.
What started as speculation on social media, was confirmed by the actress who revealed very messy details about her husband.
The man who initially denied that his marriage had hit the rocks, eventually narrated his own version of the marriage split.
After granting several bloggers and podcasts interviews and dragging another actress Rosaline Meurer into the mess, the couple decided to terminate their marriage.
Both parties have since invested their energy elsewhere with Tonto concentrating on her NGO, the Tonto Dikeh Foundation, while her hubby did the same with Big Church Haven Foundation.

Mercy Aigbe vs Lanre Gentry
On a Friday in April, reports of Mercy being a victim of domestic violence in her marriage to hotelier Lanre Gentry surfaced.
The reports were accompanied by a picture of the actress looking very battered. The actress looked so battered the Lagos state government waded into the matter through its domestic violence agency.
Her husband continually denied ever turning a hand on her and at a time claimed it was make-up from a movie shoot.
The state government had him remanded for a while but upon his release, he went on the offensive. He accused his wife of infidelity and asked that she apologise to him.
Divorce proceedings were instituted by the actress but this was not seen to the end as the last that was heard of the issue was that the couple were working on their marriage. We have all the details here >>>MercyAigbeMaritalProblems.
Apostle Suleman vs Stephanie Otobo
This started as a report of a breach of trust concerning a marriage proposal.
Canada-based Nigerian singer Stephanie Otobo said this of her relationship with the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
Suleman, in his rebuttal, said the lady was one of the many people he had extended a helping hand to and he was shocked at her lack of gratitude.
She accused the cleric of attempting to kill her with charms, after assuring her of marriage in Canada, claiming that his wife was no longer good in bed.
His wife denied the claims, supporting her husband and called all the pictures Otobo presented as evidence against her husband to the press “doctored.”
They both threatened and eventually filed lawsuits. The case is still in court. You can keep up to date with latest development in the lingering saga here>>>ApostleSulemanVsOtobo.
Kemi Olunloyo vs Seyi Law
Controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo, who trended in 2017 for trolling several artistes, got bored, looked around and picked on Seyi Law’s daughter, Tiwa.
She opined that Tiwa was obese, an opinion that did not sit down well with her father at all.
He then took to his social media accounts to insult her which in retrospect was what Kemi hoped for. There was a back and forth of insults and counter-insults.
Did it end there?
No, it didn’t.
Many celebrities joined the comedian and a voltron was formed to defend baby Tiwa against Kemi.
Kemi soon realised that she might have taken things a little too far and tendered her apology to Seyi Law, who graciously accepted it.
Hushpuppi vs Phyno/KC Fresh
This started with the constant pictures of Hushpuppi adorned in Gucci paraphernalia, prompting many to wonder if he works for the brand.
Socialite and Malaysia-based Nigerian businessman Hushpuppi, who named himself “Gucci King,” got bored of Nigerian celebrities wearing top brand imitations and flaunting them on social media. So he set the record straight.
This, however, was not enough for him as he called out Phyno and KC who he believed wear imitations.
Hushpuppi said if they did not stop buying brand imitations, he would start buying pirated copies of their record tapes or CDs.
This caused a mini-ruckus but people did not care either way and it petered out with as much attention given a tree that falls in a thick forest.
This is the point you replenish your popcorn and check your drink is still cold.
While we thought the year had concluded and feuds will remain feuds, some celebrities settled theirs.
Daddy Freeze vs Tithing Titans
Daddy Freeze, the convener of the Free the Sheeple Campaign, has attacked pastors, celebrities and regular social media folks against the preaching of tithes payment.
He has also acknowledged those who support his campaign, but the main topic of discuss is feud.
Timi Dakolo and Ubi Franklin, without a biblical verse, sold themselves by coming out boldly to preach in support of tithing.
Freeze and his cohort called on the pair to study their bible and not let pastors brainwash them.
While the latter decided to move on, Timi called Freeze a feeble-minded person who could not even hold his home. But the singer was eventually silenced.
Freeze researched and reported how Timi refused to marry his current wife, Bukola, till she became pregnant.
After Freeze’s investigation, some social media users came out with allegations that they knew Timi’s side chicks and Timi kept silent on Freeze’s case. Stay abreast of latest developments here>>>FreezevsTithingTitans
Peter and Paul have been digging it but as usual fans expected a family reconciliation as it happened in 2015.
The twin brothers, however, proved to fans that this is 2017 and the way forward is the only thing. They resolved to go their separate ways.
They went solo, released three tracks each and one admitted he was not a good songwriter and singer but a versatile entertainer. We all know who that is. Concise News has the full episode covered here>>>PSquareSplit.
Davido vs Wizkid
When DMW boss Davido started a social media war against Star Boy boss, Wizkid, many thought they only wanted to trend.
Davido, without mentioning names, called Wizkid an artiste who lacked originality, after Wizzy started making waves in the United States with Drake.
Fans on Wizzy’s social media handles came for him but they met their match in Davido’s camp.
When Tekno, Davido’s right hand man, jumped in to attack Wizzy, he was given a nickname Nigerians won’t stop calling him soon. Wizkid called him “Duck head” without mentioning his name.
Then he resorted to making peace, confessing that he interfered because he wanted to trend but Wizzy made it clear that he did not troll with his likes. They eventually reconciled.
And Tekno was obviously not the only one Wizkid reconciled with.
Wizkid, during his concert on Sunday, December 24, brought Davido on stage and they performed together.
Davido did the same in his 30Billion concert. They later declared themselves latest best friends.
Oritsefemi vs Other Nigerian artistes
When Nigerian Music Taliban otherwise known as Oritsefemi decided to rant on Twitter about concerts in Nigeria, fans went haywire.
They called him out, claiming he was reacting that way because music big shots Wizkid and Davido did not invite him to their concerts.
The singer then set the record straight by stating that he had no respect for any Nigerian artiste, except deceased Afrobeat Icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
